mobrien@nmu.edu BioI am an art student at Northern Michigan University, my major being photography (and maybe that will change to illustration... we'll see). Living in the Marquette area gives me lots of access to nature and wilderness, and growing up, I was always fascinated with science, nature, and ecology. The U.P. is a beautiful, beautiful area -- except when the winter drags on for too long -- and I love my home state of Michigan.
Among other things, I love hockey, and I admire each and every one of the guys that don the winged wheel and skate to win. I love the Detroit Red Wings. Those men are real-life heroes to me and I've always looked up to them.
Also... I'm a geek. I'm a big fan of Transformers -- mostly G1 and Animated. But I like other geeky stuff, too -- I'm an old Star Wars fan, though I don't keep up with the new stuff anymore. I grew up on Star Trek, as well, and my favorite sci fi show ever is Babylon 5. I'm starting to really get into comic books, and in the summer of 2008 I read Watchmen and loved it. I'm trying to build up my comic library as well as borrow reads from the local library. I find comics to be extremely interesting and if done well, are the perfect blend of literature and art.

from_nature. It's meant to be a community for those of us who would prefer to find objects in nature rather than buy them.
